ASTRO SCIENCE CLUB

To know science, one should come out from theoretical lessons and start practical experiment, examining practical aspect of scientific principle. Astro Science Club is organised by Aakash Tulsi lab managed by Jeevanbharti Mandal designed to help students experience science theory in practical manner.

Activity based science training progarm

Activity method is a technique adopted by a teacher to emphasize his or her method of teaching through activity in which the students participate rigorously and bring about efficient learning experience. It is a child centered approach. Learning by doing is the main focus is the method.

Planetarium Show

The school planetarium projects the night sky right onto the full dome allowing you to explore the stars indoor. Set the latitude, date and time to see the night sky where you live. Many scientist believe that “the best way to learn astronomy is planetarium shows” because it gives the true picture of sky.

A planetarium is a sky theater built preliminary for presenting educational and entertaining shows about astronomy and the night sky, or for training in celestial navigation. A dominant feature of most planetarium is the large dome-shaped projection screen on to which the scenes of stars, planets and other celestial objects can be made to appear and move realistically to simulate the complex “motions of the heavens.”

Night sky watching / Stargazing Activity

Stargazing with kid is a fantastic spring activity. Sitting in the dark admiring the constellations can be great experience to bond with your children and teach them a little about something bigger them themselves. Teaching your children about astronomy isn’t just about stargazing. You can teach your children about nature, classical literature, mythology and so much more. Plus It is just fun !

Workshop on aero modeling/rocket modeling

Aero modeling is the activity involving design, development and flying of small air vehicles. It is very exciting and interesting way to learn, apply and understand science and engineering principles.

Aero modeling generally involves small sized flying objects like radio controlled aircraft(RC aircraft), glider, boomerangs and paper planes. Although aero modeling looks like a lot of aerospace/aeronautical engineering topic, it involves a lot of interdisciplinary concepts formed various stream of engineering preliminary aerospace, mechanical, electronics, electrical and computer science. Aero modeling gives a good understanding of the roles each of these engineering skills play in a real aircraft industry and provides enormous opportunity to develop innovative thinking and implementation.

Astro photogrphy

Astro photography is a specialized type of photography for recording photos of astronomical objects, celestial events and large area of the night sky. Besides being able to record the details of extended objects such as the moon, sun , planets. astro photography has the ability to image objects invisible to the human eye such as dim stars, nebulae and galaxies.

Understanding

Astronomy is useful to each individual. Time units have astronomical bases. Standard Time, Daylight Savings Time, the seasons and the calendar are integral aspects of our social culture, some understanding of the celestial sphere and astronomical motions is useful in estimating time and finding directions. Astronomy is inextricably lined to energy topics the sun is the source of fossil fuels, wind and direct solar energy.

Practical Learning

This is indeed a “Space Age” with daily announcements of achievements and discoveries in the space sciences. With the names like Rakesh Sharma, Kalpana Chawla and Sumita Williams amd Moon mission “Chandrayaan 1” and latest “Mangalyaan Mission” India has entered the space age and the hunt for Indian astronauts has begun. The objective of the Planetarium is to motivate the students to pursue space science as a hobby or career.
